Criminal defense attorney may help man facing drug, gun charges

A man in New Jersey was recently taken into custody after being accused of committing drug and weapon crimes. The man’s arrest came after a police chase on a recent Saturday night. The man will likely need a strong criminal defense to fight these charges in criminal court.

At a little past 11 p.m., police spotted a gray car with a side mirror that was broken as it traveled along a street. When police attempted to pull the car over for a traffic stop, the driver reportedly sped off. The driver then allegedly hit a police motor vehicle and struck a house, after which it caught fire.

Police ended up arresting the man on several drug possession and weapon charges. Authorities said that, while they were at the scene, they discovered a loaded handgun along with a bag filled with what they suspected was marijuana. Police also reportedly found a bag featuring the types of vials used for packaging crack cocaine. They allegedly also discovered multiple envelopes filled with heroin.

Facing drug and weapon charges can no doubt be frightening. However, any person who is facing these types of charges in New Jersey has the right to vigorously defend himself or herself against these charges at trial. Prosecutors must prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt before the man may be convicted. A criminal defense attorney will look for holes in the prosecution’s case with the goal of achieving the most personally favorable outcome for the defendant, given the circumstances surrounding his arrest.
