Three individuals in New Jersey were recently taken into custody on drug and gun charges. Their arrests for committing drug and gun crimes took place following a police investigation into the distribution of drugs in a couple of New Jersey cities. Those taken into custody range in age from 27 to 49.

Police said in mid-March, members of a police task force finished their month-long investigation into a woman and secured a warrant to search her house. After executing the search warrant, police arrested the woman and another woman. They also later arrested a man who had connections to them. At the house, authorities allegedly seized synthetic marijuana, bulk heroin, packaged heroin, crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

Police also allegedly seized cash, a 9-millimeter handgun that was loaded and had been stolen, and a .45-caliber handgun that was also loaded. According to authorities, the seized marijuana was valued at $300, whereas the bulk heroin was valued at $3,000. Meanwhile, the values of the packaged heroin and crack cocaine were $350 and $600 respectively.

Facing charges related to drug and gun crimes can understandably be intimidating. However, anyone charged with these types of crimes has the right to proceed to trial to fight the charges. Alternatively, he or she can seek to negotiate a plea deal with the prosecution, which might lead to lighter charges and thus a more lenient sentence for the accused. A criminal defense attorney in New Jersey will push for the most personally favorable outcome for the accused given his or her circumstances.
